Aborigen

Packaging design for a Colombian potato chip brand sourced 100% from Boyaca farmers. Handmade watercolor illustrations that bring color and life to tradition reimagined.

Context

2017, Bogota. Aborigen is a potato chip company that sources 100% from farmers in Boyaca, Colombia. Nico designed the packaging and art directed the illustration work, which was outsourced to Ivan Cruz (@ivanCruzArt), a genius with watercolor who has a real gift for capturing the essence of local products.

Approach

The goal was to move beyond the typical "organic product" look. No kraft paper and leaf icons. Instead, we went bold with color and handmade illustration, celebrating the origin of the product without making it look like a health food cliche. The watercolors give each flavor its own personality while the system holds everything together.
